NISOA CREATES AN AUXILIARY BRANCH

NEW ITEMS ADDED AT BOTTOM OF PAGE - 10/17/2007

It is with great excitement that the President and Executive Director would like to announce a new branch of NISOA - the NISOA Auxiliary. Its membership will consist of the spouses of NISOA members. This group has been formed in memory as a tribute to Rose Bernabei.

Rose did a great amount of work to make the spouses feel that they were part of NISOA. She always introduced herself to those that she had not met and ensured that they were welcomed, especially at the NISOA Annual Convention, National Soccer Hall of Fame induction ceremonies, etc. This encouraged NISOA members to bring their spouses to the various functions. The core value of NISOA - FAMILY FIRST was always in Rose’s mind and is an integral part of the auxiliary organization..

To become a member of the auxiliary there will be a one time registration fee of $50 that will be used to purchase a NISOA Auxiliary shirt (with a special logo), receive future NISOA newsletters and support the Rose Bernabei Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships for training of women officials.

It is hoped that the NISOA members will share this information with their spouses and consider joining this organization. The application form is available as an insert to this newsletter and sent to the local chapter contacts for distribution.
This form can also be downloaded by clicking here.

It is strongly encouraged that any members’ spouse considers joining the auxiliary. For questions or more information please contact Mary Van de Vaarst at 1maryvan@comcast.net  or Debbie Wescott at debra.wescott@bms.com.

The NISOA auxiliary kicked off their inaugural convention with a cocktail party on Thursday evening at the home of Peg and George Brown. This was an informal meeting for auxiliary members only to enable them to re- connect and get to know each other.

Friday was spent touring Howe Caverns as well a wine tasting at a local winery. Saturday, members visited Cooperstown utilizing complimentary passes for the Baseball Hall of Fame, The Fennimore and Farmers Museum. Local shopping was also a popular pastime. Twenty auxiliary members participated in the various events throughout the weekend.

Additionally the auxiliary assisted in the booth during registration as well as helping out for the silent auction. Three new auxiliary members were recruited.

Plans for next year’s convention in Bethlehem are underway.
